Twelve Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed in airstrikes carried out in southern Somalia on Friday.
The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) carried out the attack against the terrorists in the southern parts of the East African nation.
AFRICOM troops targeted terrorists in Mudug.
The US military issued a statement on Sunday confirming the attack.
In the statement, AFRICOM mentioned that it carried out the attack in an area located 45km to the east of Hobyo.
Hobyo is around 472km to the northeast of Mogadishu.
