Authorities have confirmed that 20 people died when Al-Shabaab attacked Hayat Hotel in Mogadishu.
The attack started on the evening of Friday, August 19.
Al-Shabaab terrorists then took hold of the hotel’s top floor where they remained barricaded for hours as security forces attempted to kick them out.
They laid siege into the next day.
Eventually, a combination of regular security troops and elite military units took back control of the popular hotel, which now remains decimated.
