Two children reportedly died in Gedo region as hunger and thirst continue to bite viciously.
The two children died in El-Wak when they could not find food or water.
Local authorities reported the two deaths on March 9 as reports of a vicious drought in the region emerged.
As per the report by authorities, locust infestation and poor rains have hit Gedo and the entire southwestern region of Somalia hard.
The ongoing blockade by Al-Shabaab extremists in the region has worsened the situation further.
Consequently, authorities are now appealing for humanitarian assistance on behalf of rural communities.
