Two children were killed when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in Somalia’s Bay region on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the children were killed when the landmine they were playing with exploded. Five others were injured in the incident.
The incident took place in Goofgaduud Burey in Bay region.
Speaking to the media about the incident, a local administrator said that some of the children affected during the explosion were closely related.
Abdullahi Nur, the Deputy Mayor of Goofgaduud Burey, confirmed that the children were from the same family.
Nur mentioned that the injured children were rushed to a local hospital in Baidoa for medical attention.
