Two people lost their lives when a Kenyan plane crash-landed at Dhobley Airport earlier today.
Initial reports indicated that the plane, which was carrying Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers, had only caused injuries.
However, latest information shows that the pilot and his co-pilot died when the plane crashed.
The incident is the fourth one involving Kenyan-owned planes in Somalia.
According to a local aviation officer, last night’s plane crash was the result of poor visibility caused by intense rains that hit the area at night.
KDF issued a statement stating that a team is already in Dhobley to investigate the incident. The identities of the dead individuals, who are presumably KDF soldiers, remain unknown.
At the time of the incident, the plane was carrying supplies to KDF soldiers based in Somalia as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
