Two Regional Soldiers Killed for Raping a 10-Year Old Boy

Two regional soldiers who have been in custody since July for the rape of a 10-year old boy have been executed.

Their execution took place on Tuesday as reports emerged from Baidoa of the rape of two other young boys.

According to local authorities in Southwest state, the two soldiers were paraded just outside the town before facing their date with the firing squad.

Despite their execution, it is unclear whether any court of law in the region ever found the two soldiers guilty of the crime for which they were accused.

Members of Somali National Army’s 60th Division executed the two soldiers.

The decision to execute them followed intense pressures from Baidoa’s clerics and elders at a time when the region has to deal with increasing defilement of young boys.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that unknown people accosted and raped a male Quran schoolteacher on Sunday. The teacher later succumbed to his injuries.

According to local eyewitnesses, the men showed up at the teacher’s house to ask him to accompany them to visit and pray for a sick person.

He then entered their car and was later discovered raped and in great pain from serious injuries sustained during the ordeal.

Similarly, a young boy was also picked up in a car before being raped later. Authorities have launched investigations into the incident. The boy is alive, though.

Clerics and local elders marched to Baidoa’s police station on Monday evening demanding the arrest and prosecution of the alleged rapists.
