Authorities have arrested two television journalists in Galmudug’s administrative capital of Dhusamareb.
Reports from the region indicate that the journalists were arrested on January 20 at night.
Their arrests took place a few days after President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor of Galmudug accused local journalists of working closely with Al-Shabaab militants.
According to President Qoorqoor, the two journalists – Abdiweli Mohamed Tohow and Abdullahi Warsame Roble – have been offering favorable coverage to Al-Shabaab.
The arrest of the two journalists is the latest by Somali authorities against members of the Fourth Estate.
