UAE Accused of Financing Terrorism in Somalia

On Thursday, Turkey released a statement accusing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of financing terrorism in Somalia.

The statement, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released from Ankara, blamed UAE for displaying a “hostile attitude” in its relations with Turkey.

Further, the ministry spoke plainly in accusing Abu Dhabi of financing Al-Shabaab’s activities in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region too.

In the hard-hitting statement, Turkey also accused UAE of practicing “hypocritical politics” and supporting “coup plotters” around the world.

It further asserted that the government and leadership in Abu Dhabi employs an approach that does not foster “international cooperation” or good “relations based on mutual cooperation.”

Turkey’s statement comes hot on the heels of an accusation leveled against it by UAE that it continuously “meddles” in Arab affairs and politics.

UAE cited Turkey’s role in the endless political disputes in Libya. It also blamed Turkey for its exploits in the war-ravaged Horn of African nation.
