The United Arab Emirates has donated medical supplies to the Federal Government of Somalia to help the country fight COVID-19.
UAE’s donation arrived in Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport in a cargo plane on Tuesday.
Representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Services were at the airport to receive the 7 tons of medical supplies from the Middle East country.
In addition to the UAE donation, the plane was also carrying 20 tons of medical equipment from the World Bank.
UAE and Somalia have not enjoyed healthy bilateral relations from early 2018 when the Horn of Africa nation seized a plane from the Middle East country carrying over $10 million in cash.
At the time, UAE said the money was meant to help FGS pay the salaries owed to Somalia’s security personnel whom it was training. Since then, UAE ceased all its operations in Somalia.
