United Arab Emirates (UAE) has dispatched its diplomat to Somaliland as relations with Somalia worsen.
On March 13, President Muse Bihi Abdi received credentials from the new UAE Ambassador to Somaliland, Abdulla Alnaqbi.
Lately, Somaliland has ramped up its efforts towards international recognition.
UAE has demonstrated willingness to work closely with Somaliland after noticing a cooling of relations with Somalia.
President Bihi told Ambassador Alnaqbi that the two nations remain committed to boosting “strategic partnership and friendship.”
He also cited the common values that UAE and Somaliland share.
Bihi said that the appointment of UAE Ambassador to Somaliland is likely to boost diplomatic and bilateral relations between the two nations.
