The Secretary General of Somaliland’s Justice and Welfare Party (UCID) resigned from his position on January 5, 2021.
Eng. Ahmed Hersi Du’ale, the opposition party’s Secretary General, cited the recent disagreement with the party leader as his main reason for resigning.
The Chairperson of the UCID Party, Eng. Faisal Warabe was against the list of candidates presented by Eng. Du’ale.
The Secretary General had presented the list of names for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Somaliland.
On his part, Warabe preferred a list containing different names.
Most crucially, Warabe favored a different candidate from Du’ale in the Secretary General’s home constituency.
Apparently, Warabe favored a candidate whom he viewed as being more influential and affluent than Du’ale.
Eng. Du’ale has been UCID Party’s Secretary General since 2017 when Warabe appointed him.
