Ugandan Soldier Killed in Roadside Explosion in Lower Shabelle

A Ugandan soldier lost his life in a roadside explosion in Lower Shabelle on Monday evening.

The soldier, whose identity is yet to be revealed, was part of the Ugandan contingent serving as part of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

He was in a convoy traveling in the area when their car ran over the bomb.

Six of his colleagues are in hospital receiving treatment for the injuries sustained in the explosion.

Ugandan sources blamed the explosion on Al-Shabaab. However, the militant group is yet to accept responsibility for the incident.
