UK Ambassador to Somalia Concerned about the Violence in Baidoa

Kate Foster, the United Kingdom Ambassador to Somalia, has expressed concerns over the Baidoa violence.

Ambassador Foster spoke about the situation that broke out in Baidoa, the administrative capital of Southwest state, on Friday.

Clan militia sympathetic to opposition parties in the regional state engaged Somali National Army (SNA) in intense clashes earlier today.

While expressing her concern, Ambassador Foster called for dialogue between warring parties to resolve their disagreements.

She also expressed hope that those who need emergency health and nutrition assistance would receive it immediately.

Reports indicate that close to 800,000 people in Baidoa could fail to receive the assistance they need for the drought and subsequent humanitarian crisis they have been enduring.
