The United Kingdom urged authorities to guarantee the safety and security of journalists in Somaliland.
Mike Nithavrianakis, the UK Ambassador to Somalia, issued this call on Thursday.
He did so during a meeting with Muna Ibrahim Dakhtar.
Dakhtar is the first woman Executive Secretary of the Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA)
She was elected into office a few days ago.
Amb. Nithavrianakis assured Dakhtar that the UK is ready to support efforts designed to ensure the safety and security of local journalists.
He commended journalists for the essential services they offer.
