The United Kingdom has committed £15 million to support Somali women and girls affected by sexual and gender based violence (SGBV).
The Save the Children in Somalia announced the disbursement of the funds on Tuesday.
The organization stated that the UK donation is crucial to making Somalia a secure and stable country.
“We can make Somalia secure and stable by empowering women and girls in the country while enabling them to thrive in their communities,” read the statement by Save the Children.
The £15 million would be directed toward Gaashaan.
Gaashaan is a new project designed to women and girls vulnerable to not only SGBV but also El Nino floods.
