The United Kingdom government donated £1.6 million to help Somalia to tackle the growing problem of roadside bombs.
In recent months, Somalia has witnessed a surge in the number of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by the roadside in different parts of the country.
Al-Shabaab fighters have been the main culprits in planting the deadly bombs.
James Duddridge announced the donation during his recent 2-day visit to the East African nation where he met with senior Somalia government leaders.
The funds for tackling the roadside bombs problem were part of the £20 million that Duddridge, the UK Minister of Africa, brought to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Some of the funds would support the humanitarian efforts designed to help victims of the recent destructive floods.
