A United Kingdom minister called for urgent steps to stop the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Somalia.
Speaking to the UK media, Andrew Mitchell said that the international community can’t afford to “sit back and watch as bystanders” as the situation worsens.
“We have to act now,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell is the UK Minister of State Development and Africa.
The minister added that he had witnessed the unfolding crisis in the East African nation firsthand. He appealed for urgent solutions.
He spoke about the suffering that young children, mothers, and old people in the country endure.
Multitudes have lost their livestock while diseases are rampant among the most vulnerable segments of the country’s population too.
