Ukraine to Ship 28,600 Tons of Wheat to Somalia

Ukraine has announced a shipment of 28,600 tons of wheat to Somalia in the next few weeks.

President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy of Ukraine announced the shipment on September 6.

The Ukrainian President said that the shipment is in addition to the previous ships that have left for Africa from the European nation.

The wheat is a lifesaver to Somalis who are currently in the grip of a devastating drought.

Further, food has become scarce in the East African nation thus forcing many families to abandon their homes in search of better prospects.

Ukraine is one of the world’s largest exporters of grain.

However, the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia has created a deficit that threatens the global economy.
