UN Allocates $2 Million to Tackle Outbreak of Cholera and Diarrhea in Somalia

The United Nations has allocated $2 million to tackle the outbreak of cholera and diarrhea in Somalia.

Martin Griffiths, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, confirmed this development.

He indicated that the money is from the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (UNCERF).

Griffiths added that the funds would support UN agencies and partners to provide life-saving care assistance to over 60,000 diagnosed with either cholera or acute watery diarrhea.

The increased cases are a result of the incessant rains and floods in Somalia.
