UN Calls for Justice for Slain Female NISA Agent

The United Nations has added its voice to the growing calls for justice for the family of a slain National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) officer.

On September 11, Amina Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary General, spoke on this issue during her visit to Mogadishu.

Mohamed was in Mogadishu on Saturday.

She held meetings with President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and other top officials of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

The UN Deputy Secretary General also held discussions with Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

According to her, “The rule of law and access to justice remain critical to the protection of women from violence.”

She also stated that authorities must protect women rights and freedoms.

Ikran Tahlil, a young NISA agent, went missing in late June 2021. Eventually, NISA said that she lost her life while in the hands of Al-Shabaab militants.
