HirShabelle Elects Senators on September 14

The regional state of HirShabelle is scheduled to elect its senators on Tuesday, September 14.

HirShabelle State Parliament has the onus of carrying out the elections. Thus far, HirShabelle remains the only regional state yet to carry out elections for its Upper House seats.

Last week, President Ali Gudlawe released the list of candidates who will be vying in the upcoming polls.

As per Gudlawe’s list, 27 candidates will contest the eight Upper House seats.

Five of the previous candidates are out after failing to meet the registration requirements while one more pulled out of the race.
