The United Nations has expressed gratitude over the recent attack by Al-Shabaab on a Mogadishu hotel.
On January 31, Al-Shabaab fighters launched a daring attack at Afrik Hotel, which is near Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
The Sunday evening attack caused the deaths of nine people.
The four Al-Shabaab extremists who carried out the attack lost their lives when security agents engaged them in a fierce gunfight.
On Monday, James Swan, the UN Special Envoy to Somalia, issued a press statement condemning the deadly attack.
Swan said that the UN family felt “appalled by the reprehensible and senseless attack” on a facility that is quite popular with civilians.
The UN expressed condolences to the friends and families of those who lost their lives. It also wished those who were injured a speedy recovery in hospital.
