The United Nations’ Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) is in Beledweyne to assess flood preparedness.
Deputy SRSG George Conway was in the city in the company of Mahamuud Moallim.
The latter, who is the Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA), briefed Conway on the measures undertaken to prepare the region for the looming El Nino floods.
They also evaluated blast recovery and the current refugee situation.
Conway and Moallim were in Beledweyne on Sunday.
They received briefings from local authorities on the above matters during their visit.
