The United Nations has donated $25 million to help in tackling the effects of the ongoing floods in Somalia.
UN announced the donation on Thursday through the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Agency (OCHA).
While announcing the donation, OCHA added that the funds would go toward preventing deaths and outbreaks of diseases.
The funds would help to address food insecurity too.
OCHA mentioned that the money and other additional assistance from stakeholders would only mitigate rather than prevent the floods.
Somalia has been experiencing floods caused by the ongoing heavy rains from El Nino.
