Volkan Bozkir, the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), held a meeting with the visiting Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Bozkir met with Mohamed Abdirizak, Somalia’s foreign affairs minister.
Their meeting took place on January 21 in New York.
During their meeting, Bozkir and Abdirizak discussed several issues pertaining to the East African nation.
They discussed the upcoming elections in Somalia.
The Horn of Africa country is scheduled to hold parliamentary and presidential elections in January and February 2021 respectively.
Abdirizak is currently on an official trip to the United States where he is expected to hold meetings with different dignitaries.
While in the United States, Abdirizak is also scheduled to address the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
