United Nations in Somalia (UNSOM) held a virtual meeting with Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdurahman, the Speaker of the Somalia’s Federal Parliament today.
The meeting took place three days before the Federal Parliament, which has been on recession, is scheduled to reopen on June 6, 2020.
During that time the country has grappled with multiple crises that include COVID-19, locust invasion, increased cases of insecurity, and uncertainties about the 2020/21 elections.
In today’s meeting between Speaker Abdurahman and a representative of the UN in Somalia, the two officials spoke all those issues.
Furthermore, they also discussed the legislative agenda for the 7th session of the House of the People, which kicks off this week.
