UN Mourns 22 Somalis Killed in a Mortar Explosion outside Mogadishu

The United Nations has mourned the deaths of 22 people who died in a mortar explosion on the outskirts of Mogadishu.

Most of those who died in the Friday evening explosion were children and women.

Through the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), the global organization sent condolences to the families and friends of those killed in the incident.

It wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the explosion.

UNSOM reassured the people and government of the East African nation of its commitment to support efforts to “end the scourge of unexploded ordnance.”
