James Swan, United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia, held discussions on the ongoing elections impasse with Balal Osman.

The meeting and discussion between Osman and Swan took place at the Office of the State Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Swan has been monitoring the situation in Somalia.
He plans to hold discussions with Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) ministers, members of the opposition parties, and leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS).
Swan seeks solutions for the differences between the government, Jubbaland, Puntland, and opposition candidates.
Furthermore, Swan and Osman discussed ways of strengthening cooperation between the UN and Somalia.
They also talked about ways of increasing effective humanitarian and development assistance while supporting the programs initiated by the government.
