James Swan, the United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia, held separate meetings with the leaders of Southwest and HirShabelle states.
The UN Special Envoy’s meetings with Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed and HirShabelle’s President Ali Gudlawe took place on Saturday, October 23.
Special Envoy Swan discussed Somalia’s elections with the two leaders.
With the country already having held senatorial elections, the wait is now on for the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
Somalia was scheduled to hold parliamentary polls in October and November.
However, with October about to end, there are fears that the East African nation might be unable to hold these polls on time.
Swan’s meeting with the two regional state leaders took place in Mogadishu.
