James Swan, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) to Somalia, has commended Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble for demonstrating “strong leadership.”
Special Envoy Swan was speaking during the recent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session on August 13.
Swan was briefing the UNSC on the latest developments in Somalia.
Ambassador Francisco Madeira, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) joined him in briefing the Security Council.
Ms Batuulo Gaballe, the Chair of the Women’s Advocacy Committee, was also with the two special representatives.
In his speech, Swan said that the Prime Minister, who assumed office last year, has provided the leadership that Somalia needed to prepare for and hold elections.
Currently, regional states are holding senatorial elections.
