Somalia will receive support from the United Nations in its quest to transition to socioeconomic development.
This emerged on Wednesday following a meeting between Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and Catriona Laing.
Laing is the new UN Secretary-General’s Representative to Somalia.
Barre and Laing met at the Office of the Prime Minister in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
Their discussions centred on several issues.
Socioeconomic, security, and political developments all featured in their detailed discussions.
Barre hailed the UN for the support it has accorded to Somalia over the years.
He called for continued cooperation and collaboration between Somalia and the UN in line with the government’s priorities.
