The United Nations has vowed to continue supporting the quest by women in Somalia for leadership.
Maxime Houinato revealed this during a meeting with other stakeholders in Nairobi.
Houinato is the UN Women Regional Director for East and Southern Africa.
He held a meeting attended by Ambassador Per Lindgarde and Anna Saleem Hogberg in the Kenyan capital on Thursday, September 8.
Lindgarde is the Swedish Ambassador to Somalia.
Hogberg is the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) Development Cooperation Head for Somalia.
During their meeting, they agreed to continue supporting the Somali women’s leadership aspirations.
Furthermore, they agreed to assist Somali women to participate in peace and humanitarian efforts.
