UN Warns Residents of Bulo Burte of Looming Floods

The United Nations has warned the residents of Bulo Burte of looming floods.

Through the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UN issued the warning on Tuesday.

It added that the floods would be a result of the rising water levels at the nearby river.

As per OCHA’s warning, the river’s water levels have been rising by as much as one meter between May 5th and May 15th.

Currently, the water levels stand at 6.66 meters, which is roughly 16 centimeters higher than the recommended flood risk threshold of 6.50 meters.

Consequently, residents have been encouraged to move to safer grounds.
