UNDP Regional Director Asks Somalia Leaders to Prioritise Enhancing Public Trust

During his recent visit to Somalia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Director, Abdallah Al Dardari, emphasized the importance of enhancing public trust, strengthening transparency, and building effective institutions to ensure good governance.

He highlighted that decisive action against corruption is essential for securing long-term stability and prosperity in Somalia.

Al Dardari also underscored the significance of public-private partnerships in driving economic growth and enhancing the country’s stability and global image.

He noted that Somalia is making remarkable progress in governance, economic growth, and climate adaptation.

Additionally, he called for increased investment in long-term recovery and resilience-building to address the root causes of crises and reduce Somalia’s reliance on humanitarian aid.

Aligning UNDP’s new Country Programme Document (2026-2030) with Somalia’s National Transformation Plan and the upcoming UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework was also discussed as part of the efforts to support the country’s development priorities.
