UNDP Urges Civil Society to Help End GBV in Somalia

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has called upon civil society to play a central role in eliminating gender-based violence (GBV) in Somalia.

Consequently, UNDP called for more support for civil society to resolve the issue fast.

GBV is a major problem in the East African nation.

On Wednesday, UNDP said that it worked closely with the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) and the UN Women in Somalia to tackle the problem.

Further, it called for increased investments in robust women’s organizations to drive the necessary policy.

Thus far, they have operationalized 17 peace networks for women in the country.
