Laila Baker, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Director for the Arab States, has called the ongoing drought in Somalia the “worst in the history of mankind.”
Baker issued these sentiments on October 5 after visiting Somalia with a UNFPA delegation.
She said that her team had witnessed the impact of the drought on women and children in the East African nation.
The UNFPA Regional Director for the Arab States added that the impact of the drought is evident in camps around the country.
