United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has thrown its weight behind campaigns to increase awareness about HIV in Galmudug, Somalia.
On Tuesday, September 22, the global organization announced that it would be extending financial and technical support to Y-PEER Puntland.
Y-PEER Puntland is an initiative of the UN designed to offer assistance in the areas of gender-based violence, peace-building, and youth participation in the community among others.
UNFPA intends to use Y-PEER to communicate with the residents of Galmudug on the impact of HIV among the young men and women of Galkayo, the state’s administrative capital.
Further, the organization vowed to increase its efforts to “reach and engage more young people” amidst the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
