UNFPA Supports Birth Spacing Services in Somaliland

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has thrown its weight behind the birth spacing services advocated by the Ministry of Health Development in Somaliland.

Currently, the health ministry is carrying out advocacy meetings in different parts of Somaliland to preach the gospel of community birth spacing services.

On Sunday, December 27, UNFPA promised to support the country’s efforts towards effective birth spacing as part of family planning.

UNFPA issued a statement saying that it is committed to providing the people of Somaliland with access to “safe voluntary family planning,” which is a fundamental human right.

Furthermore, UNFPA reminded the health ministry of Somaliland of the significance of family planning to gender equality and women empowerment.
