The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has called upon the youths of Somalia to play a sterling role in the ongoing fight against female genital mutilation (FGM).
UNFPA issued the call on February 6 during the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM.
Niyi Ojuolape, the UNFPA Resident Representative for Somalia, called on the youths to take a strong stand and speak out against FGM.
Furthermore, he called on other stakeholders too to support the youths of Somalia in this age-old fight that is steeped in the culture of local communities countrywide.
