The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) briefed the new Prime Minister of Somalia on its activities in the country.
Johann Siffointe, the UNHCR Representative to Somalia, called Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble on Monday to congratulate him on his appointment and approval into office.
He called Roble on behalf of Filippo Grandi, the UNHCR High Commissioner.
Siffointe also said that the call to Roble was on behalf of Ambassador Mohamed Affey, the UNHCR Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa region.
UNHCR’s Representative to Somalia also informed the newly appointed Prime Minister about the many activities his organization carries out in the country to improve the plight of refugees.
On his part, the Prime Minister assured Siffointe that he looks forward to working closely with organization to ensure that the rights of refugees are respected and protected.
