UNHCR Delivers Family Essential Kits to Flood Victims in Somalia

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) delivered 1,000 family essential kits to flood victims in Somalia.

Johann Siffointe, the UNHCR Representative in Somalia, confirmed that the delivery took place during the last week of August 2020.

He mentioned that UNHCR personnel airlifted the kits as part of its emergency shelter response.

The supplies were delivered to flood victims in Dinsor and Wanlaweyne districts.

Before that, the supplies had been stored at the UNHCR warehouse that is located in Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu.

In May 2020, Somalia received more than 22 metric tons of family essential kits.

The kits include items that flood victims need for their survival. Typically, they contain plastic sheeting, thermal blankets, and heating stoves.
