The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will help to advance the development of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA).
This emerged on Monday following a meeting between SODMA Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim and Charles Mballa.
The latter is the UNHCR Country Representative for Somalia.
Furthermore, their discussions focused on the role of SODMA in disaster response as well as the support offered to internally displaced persons (IDPs).
They agreed to form a technical committee to oversee SODMA’s development.
