United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) called for a united approach to end female genital mutilation (FGM) in Somalia.
On February 6, the UN agency said that the practice is a violation of the rights of women and young girls.
According to the global agency, said that the rights of women and young girls to bodily integrity, safety and security must be respected.
Furthermore, the organization urged all Somalis – including the leadership and ordinary citizens – to honor the physical and mental wellbeing of the women and girls in the country.
