UNICEF Distributes Hygiene Kits to Over 500,000 People in Somalia

UNICEF has distributed hygiene kits to over 500,000 people in Somalia as part of its efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

More than 589,100 people in the East African nation received hygiene kits that included soap and water containers.

The kits also included water purification products.

UNICEF undertook the project in conjunction with other organizations such as USAID Somalia and British Embassy in Mogadishu.

Further, the organization partnered with EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Department.

For this project, it also worked closely with UN Central Emergency Response Fund (UNCERF) and the Netherlands Embassy to Somalia.

Other than that, UNICEF also supplied more than 249,830 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable communities around the country with safe, emergency water.
