UNICEF Highlights Progress of TaRL Education Programme in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education and with support from the Government of Finland, hosted a high-level engagement in Mogadishu to showcase the achievements of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) programme.

The event brought together education stakeholders, government officials, and development partners to review progress and share lessons learned from the TaRL approach, which aims to improve foundational literacy and numeracy for Somali children by tailoring teaching methods to students’ actual learning levels rather than age or grade.

Officials praised the programme’s impact in enhancing learning outcomes and reaffirmed their commitment to scaling up the initiative across the country to ensure equitable access to quality education.
