The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) trained 235 student social workers on COVID-19 response in Somalia.
UNICEF released a report on its contributions towards the fight against COVID-19 in the East African nation on January 5, 2021.
In its report, UNICEF noted that it not only trained but also deployed 235 student social workers to extend child protection services around the country in 2020.
Further, it then trained and deployed those 235 workers to various parts of Somalia to support health authorities in curbing the spread of the deadly pandemic.
UNICEF noted that it achieved this remarkable feat courtesy of the support it received from British Embassy in Somalia and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
