The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has called upon Somalis in the country not to shun breastfeeding.
UNICEF issued this call on Thursday while commemorating World Breastfeeding Week.
World Breastfeeding Week kicked off this week.
Representatives from UNICEF joined officers from the Directorate of Health and Human Services of the Benadir Regional Administration (BRA) in the Mogadishu event.
The UNICEF officials called upon Somali health workers, teachers, and frontline workers in all relevant sectors to play a leading role in promoting and supporting breastfeeding in the country.
