UNICEF Warns Drought Could Cause Malnutrition in Somali Children Aged Under 5 Years

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that the ongoing drought in the country could cause malnutrition in children aged under five years.

UNICEF issued its latest report on the ongoing drought in Somalia and its effects on children.

According to the report, the ongoing drought has affected children disproportionately.

Furthermore, UNICEF estimates that 44 percent of children under the age of 5 are likeliest to suffer acute malnutrition.

UNICEF further states that 330,000 of these cases are too severe.
