The United Kingdom has called for early action in Somalia to save lives in the face of looming floods in the country.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the UK Embassy in Mogadishu reiterated the warnings issued by weather experts regarding El Nino.
The UK stated that early forecasts point to El Nino-induced flooding in the Horn of Africa nation.
The UK added that early action by all concerned parties has the potential to save lives, livelihoods, and property.
Further, the UK promised to continue supporting the work done by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to erect flood defenses around Somalia.
