The United Kingdom has pledged more support to communities living in Lower Shabelle, which has recently been hit by a fresh round of intense floods.
The devastation caused by the floods has led to the displacement of more than 37,000 people in the region.
Lower Shabelle has witnessed heavy rains that have caused the floods.
As more people are displaced from their homes and left homeless, a new humanitarian crisis has emerged in the region.
The UK government has pledged to work closely with the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to mitigate the effects of the floods.
It has promised to start delivering emergency supplies that include mosquito nets and sandbags to communities residing in the region.
The first batch of the emergency supplies has already arrived in different Lower Shabelle towns such as Awdheegle, Baririire, Sabiid, and Afgooye.
Authorities confirmed that the floods have left critical infrastructure completely destroyed while rendering many local people without any source of income.
